The Right Plunger …

Today’s plunger lift system is the most economical way to extract gas and oil from established wells.

The plunger serves as an “interface” between the liquids in the tubing and the inflow of gas or oil from the well. The water flows through the plunger. When gas or oil pressure is sufficient to close the valve, the plunger is lifted to the surface where the liquid is drained off and the gas or oil collected into the flow line.

Multi is an early pioneer and continuous innovator in plunger lift system design. We have developed plungers for special applications to meet the demands of the most difficult well conditions.

Choosing the right plunger lift for your well requires that you know well conditions during production. Use the chart below as a guide to plunger selection.

Plunger Types

We’ve developed a variety of plunger designs to meet specific well conditions …

  • Solid Steel: 4140 Steel; 12” or 16”—with open cavity grooves/API fishing neck
  • Hollow Steel: Lighter weight, 4140 Steel
  • Twin L Spinning: Developed to create rotor effect to cut through paraffin
  • Brush: Lighter weight for low pressure and damaged tubing
  • Pad: For internal tubing damage and faster fall times.
  • Brush-Pad: Lighter weight for low pressure and tubing damage
  • QT By-Pass Quick Travel: For wells with quick lift pressure recovery
  • Casing: For low pressure, slow recover wells, requires removal of tubing string
